What is anxiety?

More than 40 million American’s suffer from anxiety and it’s important to understand that it’s a common and treatable mental condition.

Anxiety is a feeling of worry, nervousness, or fear about something that might happen in the future or something that might never even happen at all. It's a normal human emotion that everyone experiences from time to time, but when it becomes excessive and starts to interfere with daily activities, it can be a sign of an anxiety disorder.

When you feel anxious, your body may respond in different ways. You may feel your heart beating faster, your breathing may become faster or shallow, you may feel sweaty, shaky, or dizzy. You may also feel like you have a knot in your stomach or like you're going to be sick.

Anxiety disorders are the most common mental conditions and are highly treatable.
