How to Manage Anxiety During the Holidays

Holiday time is here and with it comes emotions of joy (for many) but also stress and anxiety for some. Although it is difficult to eliminate anxiety there are things you do to manage it more effectively.

Here are some tips:

Take care of yourself. Make sure you get enough sleep and eat well. Exercise every day, even if it's just taking a walk around the block. And make sure you're getting enough time outside in nature — sunlight helps relieve stress and improves mood.

Don't let others' expectations get you down and be sure to set healthy boundaries. Don't feel like you have to spend every waking moment with your family or friends during the holidays — sometimes it's good to have some time alone or with other friends or family members who don't expect as much from you.

Accept that things won't always go perfectly. If something goes wrong (and it probably will), try not to get too upset about it, because that can add to your stress levels and make things worse for everyone involved. Instead, take a deep breath and remind yourself that no matter what happens, things will be okay in the end (even if they're not okay right now).

This is the time of year to be with the ones you love. So if you are feeling anxious about it, make sure you take care of yourself so that you can enjoy the holidays to their fullest potential.
